Palmillas, Please

Gal Off Duty Guide: Is Palmillas worth the boat trip from Casa de Campo?

Short answer: Absolutely.

Tip #1: Go even if the forecast isn’t perfect.
A cloudy Caribbean day is still a beautiful day on the water, and Palmillas is just as much about the experience as it is the sunshine.

Tip #2: Go with a group.
Whether it’s a birthday, family vacation, girls’ trip, or just friends, Palmillas is one of those places that’s best enjoyed together.

Tip #3: Pack your own food and drinks.
Your favorite snacks, plenty of drinks, and a cooler make the day even better.

Tip #4: Bring cash.
Local vendors often come by the boats selling fresh seafood, including lobster when it’s available, along with other treats. Having some cash on hand means you won’t miss out.

Tip #5: Bring a speaker.
Good music instantly sets the mood. Just be mindful of the boats around you.

Tip #6: Don’t make it a quick stop.
The boat ride is part of the experience, so plan to spend the whole day swimming, floating, eating, and enjoying every minute.

Gal Off Duty verdict: If you’re staying at Casa de Campo, Palmillas is absolutely worth the boat trip. It ended up being one of the highlights of our vacation—and I’d do it again in a heartbeat.
