Rum Punch, But Make It Juicy
The Only Kind of Punch We Like to Throw on Vacation…
There’s something about rum punch that just screams “you’re not checking your email today.” It’s the kind of drink that turns a regular afternoon into a spontaneous beach dance party. The magic? It’s in the mix—fruity, bold, and just enough kick to make your cheeks warm and your playlist sound even better.
Everyone’s got their version, but mine always starts with Crab Island Rum — Opening in 2010, as the first handcrafted, artisan rum distillery on the island of Vieques, Puerto Rico. This cocktail is smooth, tropical, and dangerously easy to sip.
Frances’ Juicy Island Rum Punch
(Makes a pitcher to share—because good vibes are contagious)
Ingredients:
• 1 cup fresh lime juice (the “sour”)
• 2 cups pineapple juice (sweet + tropical)
• 1 cup orange juice (more sunshine, please)
• 3 cups Crab Island Rum (the “strong”—go bold or go home)
• 2 cups coconut water or guava juice (the “weak” part, but still fun)
• A dash of grenadine (for that sunset swirl)
• Orange and lime slices, and maraschino cherries, for garnish
• Optional: a splash of club soda for a fizzy twist
Directions:
1. In a large pitcher, mix all the juices and rum.
2. Add the grenadine last and give it a gentle swirl—it’ll float down like a tropical sunset.
3. Serve over ice, garnish like you’re extra (because you are), and enjoy.
This punch doesn’t just taste like vacation—it is the vacation. Just beware: it’s smooth, so it sneaks up on you in the best way.
