🤍 Creating a Home You Love

DIY

One thing I've learned over the years is that your home doesn't have to be expensive to feel beautiful.

In fact, some of my favorite spaces are the ones that have been collected slowly over time. They tell a story.

Here are a few things I always recommend when you're looking to refresh a room.

✨ Start with the walls

A fresh coat of paint can completely change the mood of a space. Even adding one accent wall can make a room feel brand new.

🖼️ Add pieces that make you smile

Frame your favorite memories or choose artwork that genuinely makes you happy every time you walk by it.

I've been loving browsing Iamfy lately because they have beautiful framed art that's surprisingly affordable and feels much more unique than what you typically find.

🛏️ Upgrade the little things

You don't need all new furniture.

Some of my favorite finds have been unique nightstands, lamps, mirrors, and decorative pieces from HomeGoods. You never know what treasure you'll discover.

🌸 Bring in something living

Fresh flowers instantly make a room feel more welcoming.

It's such a simple habit, but one bouquet can completely change the energy of your home.

🕯️ Create a signature scent

This might be my favorite tip.

Whether it's a candle, diffuser, or room spray, having a scent that instantly reminds you of home creates such a comforting feeling.

I've been obsessed with the Lush Sleepy lavender spray. I spray it on my bed every single night, and it's become one of my favorite bedtime rituals.

💡 Don't underestimate the finishing touches

Beautiful bedding.

Soft lighting.

A stack of books on your nightstand.

A pretty tray to organize your everyday essentials.

Those small details are usually what make a room feel warm and thoughtfully lived in.

💋 Gal Off Duty Tip

If you have no idea where to start, open Pinterest.

Create a board, save the rooms that make you stop scrolling, and slowly recreate that feeling in your own home.

There's no rush.

The best homes are collected over time—not finished overnight.

The older I get, the more I realize that home isn't about how much you spend.

It's about creating a place that reflects your personality, gives you peace, and makes you genuinely happy to walk through the door at the end of the day.

And I think that's one of the best investments you can make. 🤍
